Michael Krause
Mike Krause has been a longtime advocate for public education for a long time. His service to the Branford community as a member of the Branford Board of Education and its chairman continues to be noteworthy and extensive. The leadership he has provided for the Board has been marked with great fidelity to the needs of Branford students. He has functioned with great fairness and astute understanding about the issues that confront public education in Branford. Mike has been a champion of professional educators and has taken a major role in the recognition of achievement by Branford teachers. Most notably, Mike was a driving force behind the dedication of the football facility at Branford High School in honor of the late Jim MacVeigh. This was just be beginning of Mike’s support of honoring Branford teachers.
Mike initiated the honoring of the late Susan Spear, a career educator, with the Susan Spear School Library project through Branford’s Education Hall of Fame. His financial backing of the project has allowed the Hall of Fame to continue this worthwhile project for almost two decades.
Clearly to anyone who has witnessed Mike’s tremendous work, he is seen as a caring, and talented citizen who has devoted two decades of his life to Branford education and Branford’s students. I am pleased to nominate Mike Krause for induction into Branford’s Education Hall of Fame.
